September 2026 Mariner High School Art Club

Harbour View Gallery is thrilled to welcome a new generation of artists to the gallery - the Art Club of Mariner High School in Cape Coral. Many artist/students of the Club will be showing their work in the month of September, encompassing many mediums.   Please join us at the reception held for them on Tuesday, September 1 from 6-8 pm.

The Art Club has more than 45 members, and its mission is to recognize students who demonstrate talent, to build a community that can empower and energize, and very importantly, foster connection among the artist/students. 

Some artist/students aspire to a career in art.  Others are simply enthusiastic about art. But for all artist/students, the Club fosters social development, critical thinking and problem-solving.  It also serves as an outlet for self-expression and allows artist/students to balance their busy academic lives with moments of mindfulness. 

Talking to the sponsors of the club is inspirational.  As one said: “watching the artist/students collaborate, teach, and support the creative environment where everyone feels safe to be themselves is so fulfilling.  Art is the bridge that brings these incredible young people together with authentic connection.  Having students who are creatively engaged and civically minded makes our entire campus a more vibrant place to learn and grow.”

And here are some words the student/artists have to say about what inspires them:  “Self-exploration inspires me.  I like using black and white photography as a way to represent my lack of experience, as I grow, more color fills my canvas……..I am inspired by emotion, music, fashion and storytelling.  I like creating visuals that feel powerful ad expressive while capturing personality and mood…….I want to bring people joy!......I am inspired by emotions and the ability to turn ideas into something meaningful……I am inspired by how humans are connected to nature and how the world we live in affects nature…..My greatest inspiration comes from themes of hope and peace.”
