September 2024 3-D Featured Artist Rick Aliperti
Rich Aliperti has over 50 years of producing pottery creations. He has made a new line of unglazed Earthenware cookware from clay used for centuries by Native American Indians.
“Micaceous clay naturally contains Mica that helps temper the clay to perform under various cooking methods,” said Rick. “Unglazed Earthenware is still used today by many cultures for its heat retention and health benefits by its positive chemical reaction with food.”
His display will also feature hand carved and burnished pots that have been fired in saw dust producing a shiny unglazed black surface. To round out this display you will be fascinated by his handmade clay whistles.
Rick is a pottery instructor at the Cape Coral Art Center teaching classes for beginners to experienced potters.
