September 2018 2D Featured Artist Jerry Cowan

I was born and raised in Downey, California.  A suburb of Southern California’s concrete jungle.  My entire family works in the film industry.  However, I never enjoyed the hustle and bustle of Southern California and new at an early age I needed a profession that would afford me the opportunity to work just about anywhere.  So, after graduating from Fullerton State University with a bachelor of science in biology, I moved to Chicago where I completed my Doctorate in Optometry.  I have been an optometrist for over 20 years and my practice is located within the Cape Coral Sam’s Club.

I am married and have two teenage boys that are in high school.  For those who have or had teenagers, there in not much else to say.

Videography and photography have always been hobbies of mine.  About two years ago a patient of mine, who saw some of my office photos, suggested I submit my photos to Harbour View Gallery.  After much trepidation, I submitted some photos and was selected to be their Artist of the Month for September.
