October 2024 2-D Featured Artist Ruth Renshaw

Ruth Renshaw earned her BFA from Fontbonne College in St. Louis and her AS degree from Kaiser College in Sarasota. She now lives in Punta Gorda, where she began her interest in scratchboard after earlier works in oils and stained glass.

Ruth has been drawing and working with various art forms since she was a young child and could hold a pencil. Her work evolved from charcoal and colored pencil sketching to pastels and graphite creations. “I obtain great joy and satisfaction from my work,” she said. “To me, art is a universal language appealing to all ages. I attempt to make my viewers experience a sense of fun and excitement along with inner peace. Art is mediation for me.” Her work has been shown in galleries in Charlotte County as well as St. Louis.
