November 2025 2-D Featured Artist Cheryl Fausel
Cheryl Fausel is a painter with an international reputation. Before landing in
Cape Coral on a sailboat after crossing the Atlantic, she had already been
painting and teaching in Germany for 25 years.
She quickly threw herself into the local art scene, where she was asked to
teach watercolor - although she had been primarily painting in oil for years.
She read books, talked to watercolorists, and as she taught, she realized that
she loved it! Mostly she loves the translucency, the lightness and the
immediacy of watercolor. And the lack of turpentine smell and no oily mess is
good, too!
But her work has evolved. Cheryl describes her work as abstract realism,
which is tighter with less blurred lines – almost like a photograph. In fact, she
often works from photographs for inspiration. Cheryl has achieved Signature
status as a watercolorist. This has taken her back to Europe to exhibit with
largest international art organization in the world.
Cheryl continues to paint and teach. She is well-known as the “go to” artist for
new watercolor painters, and loves to share her knowledge.
