November 2024 3-D Featured Artist Susan Priess

Susan Priess is an artisan jeweler, silversmith and enamellist. After working with many jewelry media and techniques, she specializes in metalwork and vitreous enamel. The beauty of nature is the inspiration for much of her work.

Born in the Chicago area, Susan left the snow and ice behind forever and has lived in Florida her entire adult life. Teaching is part of her background, and her early artistic endeavors included photography and work with a picture framing business. After retiring from a career in the legal field, she became a full-time artist.

“Metal, wire and gemstones become living art through cutting, forming, stone setting, and the flame,” she said. “With vision, all things are possible. The powdered glass I use brings metal alive with glowing colors after firing with precision.” Susan teaches Enameling Jewelry at the Visual Arts Center in Punta Gorda..
