November 2024 2-D Featured Artist Shirley Hales

Shirley Hales is the entrepreneur artist who opened the Harbour View Gallery in 2007. “It is a delight seeing how my vision has continued to grow over the years,” she said.

Shirley is well- known for her fine art paintings, as well as her elegant hand painted functional glass and whimsical oyster shell ornaments. Featured for the month of November will be artwork from her “Black Paper Collection” of paintings on black paper, a new concept for watercolorists. These dramatic images are difficult to achieve as the technique is completely different from the traditional method of watercolor painting..

She was honored with the nomination for the Southwest Florida Angels of the Arts, and received the Arts Organization Leader of the Year Award for creating Harbour View Gallery and spearheading the first annual 2010 “Paint the Cape” plein air competition and exhibition.
