May 2026 2-D Featured Artist Helen Kinkin

In her heart, Helen is a creator.  When young, it was crocheting or cooking.  Then it was building computers and software – which led to trying to integrate technology into the creative process.  In fact, sometimes she assembles trajectory ideas on the computer first,  then injects her unique humanity back into the creative process.  That idea, first generated on computer, then moved to paper or canvas, can truly take on a life When you transfer that idea to paper or canvas, it can take on a completely new and exciting life.  She loves to see where this process takes her.  

Helen is largely self-taught, but she is grateful that she has been able to develop her skill through generous artists who have shared their knowledge.

Helen loves the detail of her artistic process.  She says – maybe too much!  But she lets herself get lost in them, putting more detail where she wants the viewer’s eye to go.  And when she looks at a piece, and it tells the story she wants to tell – the details stop, and that piece is finished.  Well, after one more question to herself….”would I hang this on my wall?”  If the answer is “yes!”  then the work is complete.

Helen is active in the SWFL arts community, belonging to many associations, including the Fort Myers Beach Art Association, the Lehigh Acres Art League, Arts for Act and more.
