March 2021 2-D Featured Artist Madonna Maves
Madonna Maves started painting at the age of fifty. “After the first watercolor lesson I attended, I told my husband, this is what I want to do for the rest of my life,” said Maves. She studied watercolor for seven years and after retiring from teaching in Bloomington, Minnesota after 35 years, she combined her love of teaching and watercolor, starting a new retirement career. She currently teaches intermediate watercolor classes at the Cape Coral Art League during the winter and spring months. Many of her students have been participating in her classes for years and keep returning to see what new techniques she has in store for them.
Cottontail Studio is located at their lake home in Minnesota where she and her husband, Fred, reside during the summer months. “Teaching watercolor has enhanced my retirement beyond my wildest dreams,” said Maves. “I am able to share my passion with people from all over this country. I also continue my own education by taking classes from many nationally ranked watercolor artists.”
