January 2025 2-D Featured Artist Kathleen Taylor
Kathleen Taylor endeavors to capture the beautiful colors of Southwest Florida in her seascapes and landscapes. “Our islands and long seashore feature beautiful views that are ideal for painting,” she said. “I chose watercolor because of the spontaneity and freshness of the medium. My technique features a gentle blending of colors and transparency. I especially enjoy painting on location with friends.” Recent works feature the historic properties of Sanibel, Fort Myers Beach and the surrounding areas.
Kathleen is a winter resident of Fort Myers and lives in Cape Cod in the summer. She is from a family of artists and has been painting for more than forty years. She started painting with her mother, Anna Taylor, on holidays in Ireland. Since her husband, Bruno Notari, is a native of Italy, she now paints part of the year in his home country.
She is a graduate of Northwestern University with a PhD in physical chemistry and worked for 31 years at the General Motors Research Laboratory as Director for the Materials and Processes Laboratory. She served as Chief Scientist for General Motors of Canada, Ltd. before retiring.
