A.J. Woods’ focus is on fine art and portrait painting. He still remembers winning his first art contest in the 5th grade with his drawing of a native American in his feather and fringe outfit. “I still focus on portraits of people and animals,” said A J. “I look for something unknown about my subjects to share in the painting.”

He was trained in sign lettering by his grandfather, which led to a 35-year career in commercial art. Over the years he became an artist, art director and gallery owner. “My professional specialties were sculptural sign and mural painting,” he explained. “I have provided art for a variety of venues around the country and have won awards, sold and shown my art in many galleries and exhibits since 1981. I paint live at exhibitions when the opportunity presents itself.”
