February 2022 3-D Featured Artist Carol Young

After graduating from the University of Wisconsin, Carol Young headed to Alaska to become a teacher. She taught art at the secondary level for 30 years, along with a few night classes at the University of Alaska. She also attended and taught workshops.

“I belonged to the Fairbanks Potter’s Guild, showed work at the Woodworks gallery among others and was involved in the weekly guild sales at the market. The guild also sponsored Empty Bowls for the Fairbanks food bank,” said Carol. “After 42 years in Alaska, I retired and moved to Cape Coral in 2017.”

Since moving here, she continued to work in pottery, glass fusing and watercolor. She became involved at the Cape Coral Art Center where she has participated in shows and has taught several classes in pottery making. “I think of my work as a bit whimsical, and find it brings me immense joy,” added Carol. “Although I have worked with clay for 45 years, I try to keep it fresh and new.”
