February, 2019 2D Featured Artist Sue Ann Simon
Sue is a realist painter with an appreciation and awareness for rustic settings, colors and textures. The detail with which she renders the feathers on a decoy or the stones on a barn is exceptional. In most of her paintings, the attention is focused on the object or the landmark itself, on giving it life and character. The subjects of her realistic watercolors are historic buildings and scenes associated with boats, seashells, birds, hunting decoys and carousel horses.
Having done artwork from an early age, Sue has also studied at the Columbus College of Art and Design, Northern Virginia Community College and numerous art seminars. She has exhibited in art shows in eight different states on the east coast and in the Midwest, and her paintings have been collected by many patrons and other artists.
Sue and her husband, Rick have lived in Iran and Germany and have had the opportunity to travel to well over a dozen countries in Europe, Eastern Europe and Africa.
