December 2024 3-D Featured Artist Carol Young
Carol Young graduated from the University of Wisconsin, and soon headed to Alaska to become a teacher. She taught secondary level art there for 30 years. She also took several night classes at the University of Alaska and attended and taught art workshops.
"I belonged to the Fairbanks Potter’s Guild, showed work at the Woodworks gallery among others and engaged in the weekly guild sales at the market. The guild also sponsored Empty Bowls for the Fairbanks food bank,” said Carol. “After 42 years in the teaching field, I retired and moved to Cape Coral in 2017.”
She continues to work in pottery and glass fusing as well as watercolor and has taught several classes in pottery making at the Cape Coral Art Center. “I think of my work as a bit whimsical, and find it brings me immense joy,” said Carol. “Although I have worked with clay for 45 years, I try to keep it fresh and new and just recently added several new styles to my clay collection.”
