December 2023 Featured Artist Pat Johnson
Pat Johnson has been a managing member of the galley since 2018. Her interest in glass fusing was sparked when she came to Cape Coral in 2009 and took classes through the City of Cape Coral. Although the process of fusing glass is time consuming, she finds designing and watching the glass take the desired shape fascinating. Fusing is the technique of joining two or more pieces of glass by heat in a kiln. Tack fusing is a technique in which the pieces of glass are heated until they are just hot enough to stick together and retain many of their separate characteristics. In a full fuse, glass is heated until it becomes molten, and can be blended.
She received her Liberal Art and Art Degree from Greenfield Community College in Greenfield, MA and continued her education at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, MA as a candidate in the Art Education Program. While living in Massachusetts, she supervised art departments in several photography labs and worked directly with retouching, airbrushing and restoration of photographs in the days when it was done by hand.
Her interests in art go beyond glass fusing and include painting, photography and crafting. She can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org.
