August 2025 2-D Featured Artist Susan Oliver

Susan Oliver believes in magic.  What else could it be when you win an instamatic camera at age 13, and it sets your life on a photographic journey?  

Susan spent most of her childhood on the Texas/Louisiana border exploring forests, pipelines and swamps.  She developed a love of nature early on, so it was not surprising that nature became her favorite subject of photography, now especially the beauty of Florida’s ecosystems.  Susan’s primary goal is to share her love of the beauty of the outdoors and encourage people to see it for themselves.

Susan still believes in magic.  Some mornings she wakes up and feels that it is out there just waiting for her.  The magic is in nature.  She’s not sure what the day will bring, but she knows it is special, and she doesn’t want to miss it – sometimes she swears the birds are just waiting for her arrival.  She hopes to share that magic in her photographs. 

Susan has a B.S degree in Mathematics from The Ohio State University and retired from 30 years managing corporate risk, analysis and operations departments.  She also is a musician, playing French horn with the Gulf Coast Symphony and other musical groups in SWFL.
