April 2023 3-D Featured Artist Carol Young

Carol Young grew up in Green Bay, Wisconsin. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin and headed to Alaska to begin her teaching career in secondary art. “I had the privilege of being involved in a number of competitive art shows along with participating in and leading many workshops,” said Carol. “I have worked with metals, watercolors and glass fusing, but I always seem to migrate back to clay. It’s my therapy!”

After teaching for 30 years and living in Alaska for 42, she headed for Cape Coral. “Although the best seasons were opposite, the interest was quite similar,” explained Carol. “Fairbanks was a wonder of flowers and sea life. Florida offers the same inspirations for me and they are still seen in my creations. My goal is to keep my work fresh and a little surprise on the base helps to bring a smile to people’s faces.”
