April 2021 3-D Featured Artist Judy Teeven
Judy Teeven began her career by designing and manufacturing couture bridal gowns in Chicago. “After 15 years I began a line of wedding products for craft stores which started the trend that you see today with many of my products still available at Michaels, Party City and Joann’s,” she said. “One highlight of my career was producing a line of product for Jennifer Garner which sold at Joann’s.”
Today, Judy sells “Products of Purpose”, a new model of crafts she developed over the past few years. She works with local 501C’s to provide vocational training and work opportunities for those who face difficult life challenges. Most recently she partnered with STARability Foundation of Naples. Their participants with intellectual and developmental disabilities help create her existing product line.
She believes everyone has a creative potential, but for some it goes undiscovered. After working for years with at-risk girls, she realized that it exists in all of us. For some it is locked away deep inside and overcoming fear of failure is the key. Her dream is to help others unlock the creativity lying dormant inside them. “Creativity is what drives me,” said Judy.
