April 2019 2D Featured Artist Mickie Timmons

Mickie started painting five years after retiring from the newspaper industry.  During her professional career, she designed and coordinated promotional advertising for the various departments of the newspaper, winning numerous regional and national awards.  She became the first female President and Publisher of the Chillicothe (Ohio) Gazette, a Gannett newspaper, finishing her career at the Cincinnati (Oho) Enquirer.  She and her husband have one son, Jay, who resides in McLean, Virginia with his family. 

Mickie and her husband, Warner, moved permanently to Cape Coral, Florida in 2011, where she continues to develop in her art career. Although she is a former managing partner of the Harbour View Art Gallery at Cape Harbour in Cape Coral, Florida, her work remains on display at the gallery.  She also has artwork on display at the Coco Art Gallery at Coconut Point.

She is also a member of the Pine Island (Florida) Art League, the Cape Coral (Florida) Art League, a member of the Alliance for the Arts, Fort  Myers, Florida, a former delegate to the Southwest Florida Art Council, a former member of the (Ohio) Mason-Deerfield Arts Alliance and the Mason Area Painters Society.

She has received several Honorable Mention and Merit awards at the annual Pine Island Art Shows, in addition to a First Place and People’s Choice award at a Cape Coral Art Show.

Along with selling her artwork on display at galleries, she also takes commissions to paint.
