Artists Statement:
It all began in the early 1980's when
the local high school offered a one day class in
stained
glass.
Over the years
while raising
six children and
working in the
medical office
field, I have worked on my glass
art during my spare time
making items for family and
friends.
After
retiring
from the
medical office field, I found the
time to pursue my interest more
fully.
After
filling
our house with my art to
the point
that no more free
windows
are left, I am grateful to
now have an opportunity
to share
my passion for
glass art with
others.
I begin with an
idea that has been inspired
by one of God's
creations in nature, a photo in a
magazine,
or just an
idea. I use pieces of glass
that I cut and copper foil, then
piece
together like
a puzzle, solder, ready to be hung
in a window, on a wall,
or just hanging free. I also
enjoy creating mosaics
with glass
as well as
glass overlay, which means
placing the piece to fit in the
window over the
entire
existing window glass.
It
is a great
way to express myself
with an exhilarating treatment
of light and color. |
